A College Park Classic Since 1993
Shakers American Café opened in College Park on August 23rd, 1993. We got our name from all the salt and pepper shakers on display at the restaurant. Hundreds of sets were donated by customers over the years. In the beginning, the café offered a free slice of pie for the donation! Today the same menu is served and little has changed, specialty sandwiches like Orlando Grill, Annie’s Apple, Karen’s Club are popular hits as well as the fresh salads, homemade soups and daily chalkboard specials.
Known For Our Muffins
Shakers American Cafe has become known for its grilled Blueberry Muffins, all started by a customer request to have their blueberry muffin grilled, another customer observed the grilled muffin and ordered it ‘Loved It’ and wrote a positive Yelp review and now people come in asking for it…..our best ideas come from our customers!
A New Chapter
Since Aug 23 1993, Shakers American Café has charmed College Park with cottage warmth and rows of quirky salt-and-pepper shakers. Now local restaurateur Lee Pitts steers the ship. His mission: keep the famous grilled blueberry muffin, friendly service, and nostalgic shaker collection alive while adding fresh touches that welcome the next generation of neighbors and guests.
Career Experience
We both had restaurant careers and management experience, however we were out of the restaurant business for a while working regular jobs, but our passion for great food and awesome customer service and fun brought us back to the restaurant business and we’re having a blast.
Greg’s restaurant career experience is over 25 years that started with attending the Culinary Institute of America, cooking at several New York City restaurants before moving into management.
Our Commitment
He was in Multi unit management and a director of operations for well-known chain restaurants. Terry has restaurant management experience.
Our commitment is to carry on the tradition of Shakers American Café that’s known for great food and service, maintain our signature items while creating exciting breakfast and lunch specials that are current and seasonal.
